Still in Motion (2022)
‘Still in motion’ is an experimental film that explores the idea of giving sound and movement to still and silent objects. I am fascinated by the by the Photogram process which transforms everyday objects into elusive captures of light stepping between recognition and abstraction. These photograms are the starting images for this film. The film takes images of inanimate objects and intentionally presents them in fleeting and repeated glimpses. The soundtrack was developed using a sound synthesiser that converts images to sound. Far from being ‘still’ the objects take on a life of their own, moments of recognition juxtaposed with unexpected sounds and forms.
Inspired by Mann Ray’s film “Le Retour à la Raison (Return to Reason)” (1923).
